〔記者賴哲序／綜合報導〕目前還在美聯中區落後白襪3場的老虎隊，由於外卡場次落後得更多的關係，他們想拼季後賽只剩搶奪美聯中區冠軍一途，偏偏在此時遇到了下半季最威猛的運動家隊，不過老虎靠著他們投打雙雄Justin Verlander和Miguel Cabrera精彩的表現擊退了運動家，加上白襪輸球，跟白襪差距縮減至2場。
